waterlily‿❀° was painted while thinking about how things slowly come into form before we fully understand what they are becoming. In the days before making it, I had been drawn to the beauty and symbolism of lotuses, though I only realised how naturally they had entered the work as its form began to take shape. The soft gradient was created to feel like sunset light reflected across a pond, while the forms trace the structure of a waterlily finding its way out of still water. To me, the piece holds a feeling of healing, emergence, rebirth, and quiet spiritual growth.
