blue passage ~ Original

I’ve always been drawn to traditional East Asian folding screens and the way they make division and empty space feel intentional. The idea that what is left untouched can be just as important as what is painted. In Blue Passage, forms inspired by Chinese qīnghuā (青花), or blue-and-white porcelain, grow across and between the panels rather than staying contained within them. I love that these intricate paintings once lived on everyday objects~bowls, plates, vases~and wanted to carry something with such a long visual history into my own abstract language. As the forms began to unfurl beyond each panel, I thought about how growth rarely follows a clear passage; sometimes it only reveals itself as we move through it.

Please note that all purchased artworks must be collected in person from the exhibition on 28 September 2026.
