v? is an Indonesian-Vietnamese-Australian artist whose practice explores the fluid, shifting nature of identity through abstraction. With a background in psychology, philosophy, her work is guided by an interest in the unseen forces that shape us - memory, emotion, intuition, and the subconscious. Through layered colour, organic forms, and a sensitivity to composition, v? creates paintings that feel both personal and open-ended. Her work invites viewers into a softer space of reflection, where inner experience can be felt before it is fully understood.
Artist Statement
My work is rooted in the quiet, often unconscious ways we come to understand ourselves and make sense of the world we experience. I’m drawn to the moment before something becomes fully known, like when a feeling, memory, or inner shift begins to take form but still remains fluid and ever evolving. Through intuitive abstraction, I use colour, movement, and organic composition to create works that feel as though they are emerging and dissolving at once.
Rather than offering a fixed narrative, I see each painting as an emotional landscape: a space for reflection, softness, and recognition. My hope is that the work allows viewers to meet something within themselves gently, whether that is a memory, a feeling, or a version of self still becoming.
